Volunteering at Norton Hive
Norton Hive has a loyal band of dedicated volunteers who help run the library day to day.
In the first week of operating as a community library we had 24 Volunteers on duty – 12 of those originals remain with us today. As well as helping customers with book-related requests volunteers assist with various IT queries, printing and copying needs.
There are eight public library sessions Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, each of 3 hours duration with a Volunteer Team Leader plus 1, 2 or 3 additional volunteers present.
Additional volunteers also assist with primary school visits to the Library regular Pop-up visits to local schools in support of rural schools and the Gardening Group.
North Yorkshire County Council operates a Home Library and Information Service from Norton Hive Library with assistance from our volunteers in selecting and delivering books to people’s homes.
